Damien teachers honored by College Board
Congratulations to Mrs. Patricia Frankini, who was recently invited by the College Board to become a Reader at the upcoming Advanced Placement English Reading in Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Frankini’s appointment as a Reader brings the total number of AP Readers on the Damien faculty to four. While she will be evaluating and scoring free-response answers to the AP English Literature exam, Mr. Eric Fleming and Mr. Ralph Goldstein will be doing the same as a Reader and Table Leader, respectively, for the AP English Language exam. At the same time in Kansas City, Missouri, Damien’s Principal, Mr. Sam Pearsall, will evaluate and score free-response answers to the AP Calculus exam.
The four Damien faculty members will be among 11,000 college faculty and AP teachers who gather at venues around the country to grade the ever-increasing number of student responses to AP examinations in various disciplines. The Readings offer an unparalleled opportunity for teachers to discuss assessment, share strategies, and develop a long-lasting network of professional colleagues.
Principal's Message May 2011
April was short but not without excitement. Our Tri-School Prom was a success, as was the Catholic Youth Organization's Track Meet that we hosted at Dick Larson Stadium on April 10th. This was an opportunity to have Catholic grade school students on our campus – hopefully they appreciated our fantastic facilities like their parents did. We received many compliments about our campus, and I'm looking forward to seeing some of these students in a few years as young Spartans!
Graduate Daniel Moskos Called Up To The Show
DENVER — Daniel Moskos was in the shower at the ballpark Friday when he was told to report to the manager's office.
"I was like, 'I hope I haven't done something to get reprimanded for,' " Moskos said. "When I went in there, he asked me if I had a suit and told me congratulations. There was a big smile on his face and an even better smile on my face."
The Pirates recalled Moskos from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday after they placed reliever Evan Meek on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Wednesday, with right shoulder tendinitis. While Meek recovers from the problem that's plagued him for the past month, Moskos, the Pirates' top pick in 2007 (fourth overall), will get his first taste of pitching in the majors.
